Iga Swiatek created a surprise by winning the Roland-Garros tournament for women on Saturday.

At 19, the 54th in the WTA rankings became the first Polish woman to win the Parisian trophy.

A major start to her career: at 19, Iga Swiatek won her first title on Saturday with a victory in the Roland Garros final, beating the American Sofia Kenin in straight sets (6-4, 6-1).

The Polish became the first player from her country to be crowned in Paris.

Before this 2020 edition of Roland-Garros, the young Polish woman had only reached a final on the WTA circuit, in Lugano, Switzerland, last year.

She had never passed the knockout stages in a Grand Slam.
