The new Bordeaux player Hatem Ben Arfa, who has recently joined the Girondins, has been positive for Covid-19.

He can still train with his new teammates.

Hatem Ben Arfa, who made a free entry on Wednesday with Bordeaux in Ligue 1, tested positive for the coronavirus due to "residues" of the virus he contracted this summer, the club said on Saturday.

"These are residues that have been detected. He is not contagious and can train normally without risk of contamination for his teammates and staff," he explained to the club.

Allowed to train with his new teammates

Wednesday before committing to Bordeaux, his sixth club in L1, the international had passed the traditional medical examination as well as a test for Covid-19 for health concerns in the current context. The result fell Thursday morning, before his first training with the Girondins. Despite his positivity due to the presence of residue, he was allowed to train with his new partners and was introduced to the press two hours later.
