Last fall, there was a lot of tension between China and the NBA.

It all started with a tweet from Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey in which he expressed his support for the government-critical protests in Hong Kong.

After that, the national television channel CCTV stopped broadcasting the NBA.

But last night, when the fifth NBA final between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat was played, the year-long boycott was interrupted - to the joy and surprise of the Chinese basketball supporters.

- I'm very surprised.

It is really shocking and important that we can watch the NBA finals on CCTV's sports channel, says the 18-year-old high school student Li Xinyu, according to the news agency AP.

The only way the Chinese have been able to watch NBA games in the past year has been through a streaming service.

- Now we can watch a big TV screen, and can even lie comfortably on the couch and enjoy the matches, says 22-year-old Deng Jinqi, who says that he has become tired of watching the matches via his phone.
