At Roland-Garros,

The moment she sees that her last forehand hits the mark, Iga Swiatek puts his hand in front of her mouth.

As if the kid she still is had just done something bad.

But the Pole doesn't have to apologize - except maybe for having run into an opponent again.

What she has just achieved, at the age of 19, is prodigious.

By sweeping the American Sofia Kenin, this Saturday, she has just won Roland Garros without having lost a set of the fortnight.

Victory of Iga Swiatek! 😍🇵🇱

The Polish is untouchable!

As during the rest of her tournament, she left only 5 games to Sofia Kenin, visibly injured in the thigh.

Dazzling Iga who wins the first tournament of her career, and what a tournament!

“I don't know what's going on!

I'm so happy.

It's crazy… ”she breathed a few minutes later.

Taken by emotion, she finds it difficult to finish her sentences.

"It's hard to collect my thoughts, to speak clearly," she said, smiling.

We can understand it.

She still manages to make everyone smile when she receives the cup, when she warns that she does not know how to give a speech because her last victory was two years ago.

It's true, we almost forgot to see her so comfortable on the court.

Iga Swiatek had never won a tournament on the WTA Tour before.

Her only references were in the juniors, where she had notably won Wimbledon.

She tumbled down Porte d'Auteuil without telling anyone, to become only the second non-seeded player to put her name on the charts, after Jelena Ostapenko three years ago.

And by the way, only Justine Hénin, reference if there is one, had won here without conceding a set.

"The key was not to expect too much from this match"

Stressed at the start of the game, despite a good start, she was not fully released until the beginning of the second set, when Kenin left the court for medical reasons.

“I found myself all alone, and I felt the public, the support, it did me a lot of good,” she explains.

The rest was a recital, also helped by the slack of the American.

The maturity of the Polish is still bluffing.

As in previous rounds, she was the best to ignore the context.

“It's hard to play your best tennis when you are under pressure, but I tried to focus on technique, tactics, and especially not to think about expectations, without worrying about winning or losing, details- she does.

The key was not to expect too much from this game.

Cheeky, for a Grand Slam final.

"I didn't mind the result, of course, but I didn't want to think about it all the time," she adds immediately.

We see the idea.

She paid.

But now his life will not be the same.

Ranked beyond 50th place in the world when arriving, it will be 17th on Monday.

And eagerly awaited at each tournament.

“My game is not completely finished.

The big challenge for me will be to stay consistent, she announces.

This is what is problematic in women's tennis today, and why there are so many different Grand Slam winners.

My goal will be to be constant, it will be difficult.

But I'll think about all of that later.

For now, I want to take advantage.

"

Our file on Roland-Garros

This is a very nice idea.

Saturday evening, when she has finished with her obligations, she will celebrate this title with her family, who came to Paris for the occasion.

Swiatek will then measure the impact of his victory in Poland, which had never known the intoxication of a Grand Slam success.

“It's historic for my country, that's for sure.

This tournament will change my life, she knows.

It'll be a bit of a madness there, but it shouldn't be a problem for me.

It's never a problem for me when I have a lot of people around me.

»Aplomb at the microphone as on the court ... We can not wait to see her again.
