In the middle of the campaign for his re-election, the president of the French Tennis Federation also has other fish to fry.

Invited on the set of BFM Business on Friday morning, Bernard Giudicelli announced that he would take legal action against the prefectural decisions to close tennis halls, as is the case in certain departments classified on maximum alert because of Covid-19.

For Bernard Giudicelli, “decisions are now in the hands of the prefects and we often consider them disproportionate.

Moreover, we are going to challenge the decisions taken by the prefects before the administrative tribunals as of next week.

"The boss of the FFT finds it difficult to understand that it is possible to prohibit access to rooms which are" 650 square meters for two people in the name of a regulation which one considers inept to prohibit playing while there is no physical contact and there is no risk of the virus circulating ”.

“It's totally disproportionate,” he says.

This decision to take legal action comes after the failure of negotiations with the prefects of the departments affected by the restrictions.

“They say today that there can be no special regime for tennis.

This is what we dispute, thunders Giudicelli.

There is a constant case law in the matter on the proportionality of decisions and this is what we will ask administrative judges to assess.
