It was a weak Norway that fell against Serbia in the play-off match for the European Championships on Thursday night.

And it was not late for Lagerbäck to agree.

- We probably meet the best play-off team and we do not reach our normal standard, we do not play as we should.

In the Norwegian media, the tone was harsh and Lagerbäck's Norway was sawn quite hard.

Even on twitter, the verdict was tough.

Terms such as "Swedish infiltrator" appeared, but also voices that Lagerbäck has done very well for Norway but that it is now time to move on.

No end in itself

After the match, Lars Lagerbäck was reluctant to talk about his future as Norwegian national team captain.

- This is not an end in itself for me.

If the employer thinks that I should not lead this, or if I come to that conclusion myself, then I have no problem stepping aside.

- I'm not leaving tonight anyway.
