Baseball Meiji Jingu Tournament Canceled due to the influence of the new corona October 9, 18:21

The baseball Meiji Jingu Tournament, which was scheduled to be held at Jingu Stadium from the 20th of next month, has been canceled due to the influence of the new coronavirus.

The Meiji Jingu Tournament of baseball has been held at Jingu Stadium, with teams that have won regional tournaments nationwide in the high school division and teams that have won league games nationwide in the university division.

This year was scheduled to start on the 20th of next month, but as a result of discussions held by the Japan Student Baseball Association, which hosts the tournament, on the 9th and 6th of this month, the infection has spread nationwide. In particular, it announced that it has decided to cancel the tournament due to factors such as the movement of athletes in groups to Tokyo, where there are many infected people, and the risks associated with long-term accommodation.

This is the second time it has been canceled since 1988, 32 years ago.

In the high school division, the district where the winning high school is located was supposed to be given one representative slot for the Senbatsu tournament next spring, but the Japan High School Baseball Federation will consider how to handle it in the future.
