A French investigation into the "Roland Garros" tennis match-fixing case

The French Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into alleged fraud in the results of tennis matches within the women's doubles' competition in the French Open at Roland Garros stadiums.

The investigation relates to a match in the first round on September 30th between the Romanian duo Andrea Mito and Patricia Maria Teague against the Russian Jana Cesikova and the American Madison Pringle, according to the French newspaper L'Equipe and the German "Die Welt".

The investigation focuses on the fifth game of the second group, which the Romanian duo won with a clean result, after two direct errors on sending Cesikova (25 years old and ranked 89 in the world).

L'Equipe indicated that large sums of money were set aside for betting on the victory of the Romanians in the relevant game, and that bets were placed in more than one country through bookmakers in Paris.

The prosecution said it was investigating "fraud in an organized group" and "active and passive corruption in sports."
