Reducing German Cup club bonuses due to the Corona pandemic

The German Football Association announced today, Sunday, that club rewards in the first round of the German Cup competition will be reduced by 20 percent compared to the previous version due to the Corona pandemic crisis.

The German Football Association confirmed the report published by "Kicker" magazine, which revealed that the 64 clubs participating in the first round received 137,000 euros each, compared to 175,500 euros last year.

The German Football Association indicated that all clubs, starting from the third division, will receive 30,000 euros to implement the strict and mandatory health protocol.

It is not clear whether the clubs will receive less money in the next rounds of the cup competition, since previously the bonus was increasing with each round.

The DFB collects the prize money by marketing broadcast rights and sponsorship.
