World setter Novak Djokovic, who was tested positive for the coronavirus this summer after arranging a competition in Serbia himself, was involved in discussions yesterday when the match between Adrian Mannarino and Alexander Zverev was postponed for three hours after Mannarino was in contact with the covid-19 affected Benoit Paire.

Now Djokovic has expressed frustration over how the local authorities have handled various events in recent times.

- Unfortunately, in many cases it is not up to the ATP, the American Tennis Association or the WTA to make decisions in situations like this (Zverev's match), but it is New York's health authorities who must decide what to do.

We knew that when we came to the United States.

We knew there was a high probability that things like this would happen, he says, according to the site Tennis World.

"I am not happy"

Djokovic is also disappointed that the two players Guido Pella and Hugo Dellien were removed from the competition after being in contact with covid-19 infected people.

- I'm not happy that Dellien and Pella were in similar situations and were eliminated from the tournament.

They were forced to quarantine in their rooms.

Then a very similar situation happened with the French boys, after Benoit was infected.

We do not even know if it was a false positive test because he was tested negative for a few days, says Djokovic, and continues:

- There is another thing that we clearly have to address: There are lots of incorrectly positive test results that I have heard about in sports, and also in ordinary society.

I heard about an NFL team or a baseball team around here where there were seven or eight players who tested positive, but who after a second test saw that the first test answer was not correct.

- They have not straightened that out with Benoit.

He is in quarantine.

He's out of the tournament.

Then there are a lot of people who have been around him in the meantime, they get to play.

Pella and Dellien were not allowed to play.

They were in a similar situation.

It has been very inconsistent.
