Saturday's marathon took place instead of the Stockholm Marathon which was canceled due to the corona pandemic.

The race ran over six laps at Norra Djurgården and there were 39 runners who participated in the men's class.

After half the race, three laps, there were four runners fighting for the title;

Tsegay, Samuel Russom, Adhanom Abraha and Mustafa Mohamed.

On the fourth lap, Samuel Tsegay picked up the pace and ran away from the others.

Abraha and Mohamed got out so much that they broke the race.

Medal for debutants

Now the marathon debutant Samuel Russom finished second, one and a half minutes behind, on 2.16.14.

Third was Archie Casteel, also a debutant as a marathon runner, with 2.18.28.

Casteel thus became the best Swede.

-I did not really know how the body would react because it was my debut.

But it was fun, positively surprised, says Archie Casteel to friidrott.se.
