City Group announces the acquisition of French club Trois

City Football Group confirmed today that it has acquired a majority stake in French club Troyes, in the second division of the French League.

The group now includes in its network ten clubs besides the most prominent club, Man City, including New York City in the American League and Girona, and confirmed in a press statement that it had bought the shares owned by the former owner Daniel Masoni.

The group added that French businessman Maxime Ray had acquired a minority stake and would be a member of the French club's board of directors.

Group CEO Ferran Soriano said: "We have had an interest in French football for some time and we have always liked Petroit, so we are pleased to complete the acquisition of our tenth club in order to have a permanent presence in France."

"This is an important step for the Citi Group and it illustrates how our experience continues to adapt and grow in a relatively short period of time," he added.

Founded in 1986, Troyes won the Intertoto Cup in 2001 and won the Second Division title in the 2014-2015 season before relegating from the first division the following season.

Troyes are playing their matches in the Loeb Stadium, which has a capacity of about 20 thousand spectators, and the team was in fourth place in the second division when the 2019-2020 season was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The group's clubs also include Melbourne City, Australia's Yokohama Marinos, Club Montevideo City, Turki from Uruguay, Sichuan Jiuunu, China, Mumbai City, India, and Belgian club Lommel.
