Several major American leagues in basketball, baseball and tennis, among others, have suspended matches in protest of police violence and racism since 29-year-old black American Jacob Blake was shot by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

When the WNBA was back last night, players and leaders in the Connecticut Sun chose to manifest by kneeling wearing black "Black Lives Matter" jerseys and holding up each other's guilt.

Together they formed a quote from the late Martin Luther King, the foremost leader of the civil rights movement, which reads: "In the end, we will not remember the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."

"Bigger than just basketball"

When team coach Curt Miller was interviewed before the game, he had a hard time holding back tears:

- This is bigger than just basketball for us. That is why we as a team continue to talk about things outside of basketball, he says.

Matches? It beat Los Angeles 80-76 after falling four points ahead of the fourth and final period. They were led offensively by Chelsea Gray who were noted for the season's best 27 points.
