Ukraine will allow fans to return to football matches in a quarter of the stands, three months after stopping a Covid-19 pandemic, a sports official said today.

Ukraine has eased measures since May to help the economy, but the government extends public isolation every month, requires citizens to wear masks and imposes strict measures in public places.

The President of the Ukrainian Football Association, Andrei Pavelko, wrote on Facebook that the Minister of Health "has just approved allowing fans to attend matches as an experiment between 25 and 29 July."

He added that the public will fill 25 percent of the full capacity with the possibility of increasing the proportion in half if the experiments were successful while adhering to government guidelines.

The Ministry of Health did not confirm the information immediately.

Ukraine has recorded nearly 61,000 cases and 1,534 people have died from the emerging virus, which is relatively low compared to western European countries, but the infection has spread in recent weeks.

Clubs of Ukraine resumed playing from May 30 without fans.
