Montgomery is not present when the season will start at the end of July without an audience.

She will focus on the work of her own foundation and Black Lives Matters.

"If I start playing in the WNBA, I know it won't be a hundred percent bet and it's not fair to my coaches and teammates," writes 33-year-old Montgomery in the Players Tribune.

“I have gone into the 'bubble' and do not know at all what it will look like in four months in terms of this movement. I just want to be sure to give what I can to the movement, ”writes Montgomery, who is surprised at how committed she has become.

"I'm as shocked as everyone else"

"As I write this, I feel, 'Have I really set the next season?' I am as shocked as everyone else, ”she explains her feelings.

Montgomery started a foundation last year to help people through sports.

"My heart tells me that I have another mission that I must perform," Montgomery writes.

She is supported by the Atlanta coach.

"I am sorry that Renee will not play this summer but proud of her passion for her foundation and her chances of influencing the Black Lives Matters movement from her platform as a WNBA player," Nicki Collen told Reuters.
