When the winner of this year's first Formula 1 race in Spielberg celebrates his victory, it will be without the usual champagne spraying on a podium, which according to Ross Brawn is one of the sport's new corona rules.

- The podium ceremonies cannot take place, but we are looking at the possibilities of doing something on the track after the race. One suggestion is to line up the cars and to allow the drivers to stand in front of them, he says to the engine series website.

One problem is that no one can hand over the victory trophies without breaking the corona rules, but Brawn promises that they will find a way for the winning driver to get a trophy and that it will look good on television.

Different start

But it's not just the victory ceremonies that will be different, but even before the race, the television viewers will be able to see new rules of procedure. Brawn in particular points out the problems with the large numbers of people who gather around the cars before the start.

- Every aspect from the stables coming to the track until they leave it has gone through. All plans are not nailed yet, but we are working on it together with (the International Motor Sports Association) Fia.

On Friday, the F1 organizers announced that the race in Azerbaijan, Singapore and Japan due to the corona pandemic will be removed from this year's calendar.

Four other races have been canceled since before and the entire World Cup program has been revised. This year's F1 premiere is scheduled for Spielberg in Austria July 3-5, and the eight scheduled events to date are all in Europe. The goal is for the season to consist of between 15 and 18 races.
