Spanish League League president Javier Tepas has warned of penalties for clubs that will refuse to play in league matches if the competition resumes after the break due to the emerging epidemic of Corona virus (Covid-19).

Authorities, including the Spanish Association of Professional Players, have expressed concerns about the safety of players in the event of the resumption of the season's competitions.

"If a club refuses to play when the authorities allow this, it will lose its matches automatically, as was the case previously," Tepas said in comments yesterday.

He explained that failure to complete the matches of the current season will cause a total loss of one billion euros, and the clubs will lose about three hundred million if the matches are completed behind closed doors and without fans.

Tebas expected to complete the matches of the current season after obtaining permission from the health authorities, and said that the matches will be played without an audience until next December, due to the repercussions of the spread of the Coruna virus and the rules of preventing gatherings.

The league competition has been stalled since last March, due to the repercussions of the spread of the virus, which has killed more than 33,000 people in Spain so far.
