After Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller starred with superstar brilliance, such as Ariane Rubin and Frank Ribery, his praise of his teammate Alfonso Davis offers a clear indication of the young Canadian player's abilities.

The 19-year-old, Davis, has reached new dimensions in the wing position of Bayern Munich through a series of impressive performances that have reserved him a place in the starting line-up for the Bavarian team.

Mueller said of Davis, who proved himself an essential element in the Bayern team before the competitions stopped in light of the crisis of the new epidemic of the Corona virus, that Davis speed is a step forward, although the team witnessed earlier the huge capabilities of prominent stars in the same center.

Davis also won the admiration of Bayern officials who reached an agreement this week to extend his contract for another two years, knowing that his contract was supposed to continue until 2023.

"Any player who can perform consistently at the highest level in Bayern at such an early age, can have a tremendous streak ahead," said Oliver Kahn, board member.

After Hansi Flick assumed the position of Bayern coach to succeed Niko Kovac, Canadian international Davis managed to develop in the team until he became part of the two bases, knowing that he was participating in a basic afternoon and not a left wing.

As is often the case in football, the need is the mother of invention, as with the lack of options available to the center of the defense, the David Alaba position has changed to show the opportunity of the center position in front of Davis, who tightened his grip.

Davis played essentially in 23 consecutive official matches before the competition stopped, and none of the other players involved on the field except the goalkeeper and captain Manuel Noir, who outperformed him in just a few minutes under Flick's leadership.

Davis, who wore a shirt numbering "2025," was proud of him when celebrating the signing of the new contract with Bayern Munich, saying that playing for Bayern was "a dream turned into reality."

"I want to win as many titles as possible with this club," added Davis, who is learning German.

Davis is very popular, as was Robin and Ribery. Last February, the fans chose him as the best player of the month, after he performed impressive on the left front with the team.

"He (Davis) is a great boy, he works every day during training," said Bayern club manager Hassan Salih Hamidic after the match, which ended in a 3-0 victory over Chelsea in the Champions League.

On the sidelines of Bayern's tour to the United States, Saleh Hamidic led a delegation to Canada in 2018 to obtain the signature of Davis from Vancouver Whitecaps, after following the player for a period in the NFL.

"We pounced on him immediately," said Saleh Hamidic, who received the player's services for 10 million euros and was preparing a large sum for the 17-year-old.

"We wanted to show our appreciation to the player by renewing the contract," said Bayern Munich chief executive Carl Heinz Rummenigge.

From two parents who had fled the Liberian civil war, Davis was born in a refugee camp in Ghana on November 2, 2000.

In 2005, his family moved to Canada, and after Davis struggled with modest circumstances in his childhood, he is now a nineteen-year-old millionaire, looking forward to better during his career with Bayern under Flick.

"He is a very important element in the center of the wings because of his tremendous speed. He also has the ability to blend in with Bayern's style of play," said Oliver Kahn.
