First, big stars Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer got the big tennis organizations to start a support fund during the corona crisis for the lower ranked players.

And now Roger Federer wants tennis to take the next step and merge ATP and the WTA tour - at least organizationally.

"Just wonder ... am I the only one who thinks it's now time for the men's and women's tennis to unite and gather together as one?", The Swiss writes on his own twitter and develops:

"I'm not talking about merging the tournaments, but merging the two governing bodies (ATP and WTA) that control both the men's and women's professional competitions ..."

The tennis season was suspended in March due to the corona pandemic and the set races look set to continue until, at least, mid-July. Which means that the lower-level players have no opportunity to make money.
