Neymar returned to Brazil - SPENCER / SIPA

Among the many questions on the post-coronavirus in sport in France, that concerning the return of foreign players to our soil seems to have been resolved. According to the Ministry of the Interior, footballers who have spent the confinement period abroad - like Neymar - will be able to return to France "without problem" or quarantined "at this stage", in the event of resumption of training.

As long as they are residents of France and holders of a residence permit or long-stay visa, "there is no problem to return to the territory, regardless of nationality and provenance", said the ministry. The question has arisen since last week, President Emmanuel Macron announced that France's borders with non-European countries would remain "closed until further notice".

Neymar and Thiago Silva in Brazil, Edinson Cavani in Uruguay, Keylor Navas in Costa Rica… Some stars of Paris SG are concerned with the subject, but not only, like the Brazilians of Lyon Thiago Mendes or Nice Dante. Several players have made the choice to return to their countries of origin, while France is going through a period of containment since March 17 to contain the spread of the Covid-19.

Towards private flights to return to France?

The gradual lifting of it, from May 11, maintains the hope of a resumption of training, then competition in June. Upon their return from abroad, there is no compulsory quarantine "at this stage", according to the Ministry of the Interior, while the modalities of the deconfinement are still being studied.

It remains to manage the modality of their journey to France, in a very difficult global context which has almost stopped air traffic. One option considered could be the organization of a private flight, an option that Navas would have chosen to reach Costa Rica, according to the ESPN media.
