The Spanish football league clubs have shown anger over the Spanish Federation's plans to use the current table competition arrangement to settle the cards to qualify for European competitions, if the season is not completed.

If the plan is implemented, fifth-placed Getafe will not qualify for the Champions League.

But Getafe president Angel Torres said in comments reported by the Spanish newspaper "El Pais" on Friday: "The federation rushed, or ignored the rules. We are tied with 46 points with Real Sociedad (fourth place) and we are even in the goal difference."

He added: "The league rules stipulate that when the season ends in this way, the goal difference will be decided in direct confrontations between the two teams, and we have won at Sociedad Stadium."

He continued: "The arrangement of the current schedule places Sociedad in fourth place only because he scored more goals, but the rules require that at the end of the season there will be a difference in the goals in direct confrontations."

Valencia also expressed its opposition to the federation's plan, as the team is ranked seventh, and according to the plan presented by the federation, he may not participate in the European League.

The federation announced that in the event the Spanish Cup final is not held between Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao, the two teams will qualify for the European League, at the expense of the seventh-ranked league player.

The clubs also complained about the timing of the Spanish federation's announcement of the plan, and the president of Getafe said: "What cannot be allowed is to announce it now, so there was no need for that."

"The implementation of these proposals is not the responsibility of the federation," said Javier Tipas, president of the Spanish League.
