Sepp Blatter is no longer president of Fifa, but he is still capable of great outings. The former Swiss leader, who fell in 2015, came up with the idea in an interview with the Germans from Bild to withdraw the organization of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Emirate was appointed in 2013 while Blatter was in place. Since then, heavy suspicions of corruption weigh on this attribution. In early April, the justice system of a country, in this case the United States, said that the votes in favor of Qatar were marred by irregularities. A document published by the Brooklyn Attorney General certifies that leaders of the International Federation received bribes in exchange for their vote for Qatar (and Russia in 2018, by the way).

Blatter believes today that we could give the organization "to Germany, but it would then make two editions in a row in Europe after the 2018 edition in Russia. Japan is also a possibility, but I am thinking of the United States. They are already organizing the 2026 edition (with Mexico and Canada) and already have the experience of 1994. ”

The Swiss had previously said that the United States was originally to prevail for 2022, but "that political intervention at the highest level" had tipped the scales towards Qatar. He thus evoked the track of Nicolas Sarkozy's intervention with Michel Platini in 2010, which is the subject of an investigation in France.
