ITTF is making major changes in elite table tennis and to implement them, the World Table Tennis organization has been created. It is under their flag that they will start organizing "Grand Smash" competitions and the inspiration has come from tennis. The changes will take place from 2021.

- From a spontaneous point of view, it feels like the ping pong has been striving to go against the tennis with the latest changes and "Grand Smash" is not very far from the name of their big competitions. As long as the ping pee gets bigger, I'm just positive, says Falck.

Dainton believes that an individual World Cup will be superfluous as you can select a world champion based on "Grand Smash" competitions. The World Cup and Olympic Games would still remain according to his proposal. Falck thinks that he should not remove the World Cup, but otherwise he is positive to the commercialization of the sport.

- We'll see what happens in the near future. Next year, there will be a big change for the ping pong, given that all the names and arrangements of competitions are being changed. Then we will see then. It's probably their way of marketing the ping pong and maybe making it grow even more, he says.

The World Cup has been played since 1926 and Sweden has had three different world champions.
