It is important to be creative and inventive in these corona times. Belgium has basically shut down the entire society and you are not allowed to ride in groups. It makes a traditional race over 267 km, which would have been run today, from Antwerp to Oudenaard with a large starting field impossible to complete.
But the cyclists got the chance to compete anyway, when a test bike was set up at any place to participate in the race. Double Belgian at the top, where Van Avermaet won and Oliver Naesen came second, after looking down Frenchman Nicolas Roche.
The virtual world offered perfect conditions, while you could see how Van Avermaet, a cyclone from home, hung up a blanket to be disturbed less by the sun.
