The purpose of the central agreement is to open up the possibility of concluding local agreements on short-term work for players.

The agreement is based on the new system of short-term government-sponsored work that was presented by the government on March 16.

"The clubs will be able to significantly reduce their costs for salaries by doing this," says Erik Wirkensjö at Union Press Press to SVT Sport.

Central agreement in place

The fact that an agreement has been signed between the Union and the Employer Alliance means that the clubs can now start negotiating layoffs for each club and player at the local level.

The system of short-term leave was introduced by the government on March 16. Employees can reduce their working hours by as much as sixty percent while retaining a large portion of their pay. This is financed by the state paying the difference to the employer.

In order for a club to make use of the short-term permits, the club must negotiate with its local trade union club. When this is done, the club can then apply for compensation at the Swedish Plant Administration.
