The opening ceremony was scheduled for July 29, the Paralympics from July 30 to August 4, and the main tournament of the Olympiad on August 6-17.
“Given the statement of the International Olympic Committee regarding the Olympic Games, FIDE also decided to postpone the 44th World Chess Olympiad and the FIDE Congress,” the organization’s press service said.
Earlier, the IOC announced the postponement of the Olympics in Tokyo in 2021.
