Sports Sweden stands still as a consequence of the spread of the new corona virus. With one exception.

As only one match remains in the men's and women's SM finals, the finals in Uppsala must be completed before the band even retires to the quarantine's dark.

However, there will be nothing further on the stand. Instead of around 20,000 spectators, as it usually is on the Students' IP, this time it will be empty and wasteful, as the imminent risk of further spreading the infection will force the audience to stay home.

- It's a little sad that the party itself on the final day disappears, so it will be. It's incredibly special. I do not know if you can imagine in advance how it will feel, but it will be strange, says Oscar Wikblad, whose club kicked in a total of 49 goals in 26 matches in the season's basic series.

Really tough

With that listing, the 23-year-old won the shooting league, eight meets before Broberg's Martin Söderberg, and led Edsbyn to series victory.

Now Wikblad's hope is to get Saturday's final opponent Villa Lidköping to abdicate from the champion and thus take home his third SM gold in his career.

- It will be a fun final. It will be damn tough and it really feels like there are two really good band teams that meet, says Wikblad who believes that the lack of sports on TV can attract an unusually wide audience to this year's final.

How do you see that this may be the last elite sporting event we see in Sweden in a while?

- It feels incredibly fun to showcase the band, and there may be many new viewers now. It might be some kind of record with TV viewers and it feels funny when the circumstances are as they are. We will try to offer a good match and good entertainment.

Right to play

Do you have TV sports withdrawal yourself?

- Yes, you feel that you do not have to watch sports on TV, no matter what it is.

The bandy is one of the few sports that finish the season this spring. What did you think of the decision to have the finals played?

- Yes, there were some days when it was very uncertain. All other sports closed down, but it feels good anyway that we can finish the season and get a finish. You have to follow the guidelines that exist. I think it's good that we get to play the match, ”says Oscar Wikblad.

The women's SM final between Skutskär and Västerås starts at 10.30 am while the men's final between Edsbyn and Villa Lidköping starts at 15.15. The matches are broadcast on SVT1 and in SVT Play.
