The Italian Football Federation (FFA) begged the first-class players "Calcio" to help football in the country by reducing their high salaries, which they earn millions in annually, to coincide with the difficult situation in Italy, with the outbreak of the new Corona virus (Covid-19), which infected 41 thousand people and led to the death of 3400 so far.

"La Gazzetta dello Sport" newspaper reported that "the Italian Federation President Gabriele Gravina asked the first division players to seriously consider reducing their salaries at least during the current season in light of these conditions that affected the international and Italian football in particular as a result of the disruption."

In the event that the salaries of the players are reduced, Juventus club star Cristiano Ronaldo will lose about $ 10 million from his annual salary of 35 million a year, while his total wealth is 430 million, according to Forbes.

Ronaldo, who is currently isolating himself in a quarantine in the Portuguese city of Madeira, will not be the only one affected by this decision if it is issued, but there are other players in the Italian league that receive high wages, led by his teammates in Juventus, Argentine Paulo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain, the Welsh Aaron Ramsay, and the Dutch Matias de Licht, and in other clubs Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku.

It is noteworthy that the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica" estimated the extent of the financial damage to the Italian league due to Coruna, saying: "In the event that the current season is not completed, the losses of the Italian clubs will amount to about 460 million dollars in local and European broadcast rights and the Italian Cup." While the website «Futbol Italy» confirmed that «the loss of each round of the Italian league reaches 31 million dollars, and 12 rounds remain until the end of the tournament».
