Valencia CF has confirmed "new positive cases" of coronavirus in its staff and coaching staff, after announcing on Sunday that five members of the club were infected, and regretted that the trip to Milan to play against Atalanta in the second leg of the Champions League has caused "around 35% of positive cases".

In its statement, issued late Monday afternoon, Valencia regrets that despite the "strict measures taken" on the trip to the Lombard capital, "an area confirmed as high risk by the Italian authorities days later" where on 19 February they played in San Siro (4-1), the risk that they took has been demonstrated.

"The latest results show that the inherent exposure to matches has caused around 35% of positive cases," said the statement by the current champion of the Copa del Rey, who on Sunday identified Ezequiel Garay, Eliaquim Mangala and José Luis Gayà like three of his five positives.

The new cases, according to the Mestalla club, undergo medical follow-up and isolation measures, so that the scheduled work plan can be carried out normally.
