• The European Championships will be played as planned, starting June 12, in twelve different countries

An alternative that right now feels very unlikely, mainly because the corona virus continues to ravage at full force and in almost all of Europe is affected.

The final playoff matches for the European Championships are scheduled to be played at the end of March, but if they are pushed to the future the natural effect will be that the championship must be postponed as well, such as countries such as Italy have demanded. Another factor that makes it unthinkable that the European Championship is played as planned is that all the major leagues are currently paused, the clubs and several other heavy players want the leagues to be played this year and that it should be a priority before a European Championship start in June.

• The European Championship will be played as planned, starting on June 12, but with no audience

In principle, it is just as unlikely to play the European Championships as planned this summer, with no audience as with the public. Closing the stands would also be a huge financial blow to the European Football Association Uefa. It is possible to move some matches to places in Europe where the corona virus is not as widespread, but the question is whether those countries are ready to host?

• The European Championship is postponed until later this year

The proposal that is probably the easiest for all parties - and thus perhaps the most likely. Assuming that the corona eruption goes back, an EM in December, for example, could be carried out. The paused leagues could be completed without problems, which is what the clubs would like to do, and the playoff game for the European Championships will be ready well in advance of the championship. For Uefa, it is important that the European Championships get rid of, and therefore a move of the championship is the most reasonable. Lars-Christer Olsson, who is a member of Uefa's executive committee, has said in an interview with Radio Sports that a move of the European Championships to another time this year is preferable.

• The European Championship is postponed until next year, 2021

The reputed French newspaper L'Équipe last week published information that Uefa will move to the European Championships next summer, 2021. An alternative that is not at all unreasonable, but it comes with several obstacles along the way. Firstly, the women's European Championship is played next summer, and Uefa does not want the championship to collide with each other. On the one hand, the first edition of the International Football Federation will also be decided by Fifa's new version of the club's World Cup next year - a tournament that Fifa has invested heavily in - and the International Federation does not, of course, want an European Championship to disrupt that event. In such a situation, does Uefa still dare to place an European Championship in parallel with Fifa's new star tournament?

It is Uefa's executive committee that makes the decision on how it is with the European Championships.
