The Argentine World Cup rally in April has been canceled because of the corona virus. But the Mexican World Cup rally was run today where Pontus Tidemand extended his lead in the WRC2 class. However, the organizer now chooses to cancel the competition in advance and tomorrow's planned power stage will be canceled. The reason is that several countries are closing their borders and they are afraid that the teams will remain in Mexico.

- Of course it is right for people to be able to go home. After all, it was not unexpected that we see more and more countries closing their borders. This could not have been foreseen when the decision was made to rally. The course of the corona virus and its effects has changed drastically in recent days, says SVT Sports expert Jonas Kruse.

"A hard blow"

The rally has a tough year behind it, with several competitions either canceled or shortened.

- Of course, it's a tough blow to the rally World Cup. Last year, Australia was canceled due to forest fires, the Swedish rally that was reduced due to the weather and now this as well as in Argentina has already been moved because of the virus, says Kruse.

The next scheduled competitions in the Rally World Cup are in Portugal in May.
