She succeeds Didier Gailhaguet, swept away by the scandal of sexual violence which rocked the world of French figure skating a month ago.

The former ice dance champion, Nathalie Péchalat, was elected Saturday new president of the French Federation of ice sports (FFSG), announced its secretary general, but the vote took place in confusion during the general assembly in Paris, the three other candidates requesting the postponement because of the coronavirus epidemic.

Nathalie Péchalat, 36, succeeds Didier Gailhaguet, who has reigned over French skating almost continuously for more than two decades since 1998 (except between 2004 and 2007), but who was forced to resign in early February, after a scandal of sexual violence which hit the federation hard.
