After five Olympic golds and 13 World Cup golds, Martin Fourcade announced on his Facebook page yesterday that he is leaving after today's hunt start race in Finnish Kontiolahti.

“It's time to say goodbye. I leave much of my life behind me. Thank you for this trip, ”he wrote.

Fourcade also started in the best possible way as he shot fully in the two initial horizontal shots. In the third shoot came the first boom of the day. Despite this, he passed the compatriot Émilien Jacquelin and Johannes Thignes Bö missed three shots.

Obviously for victory

Bö slipped to a fifth place with over minutes after Fourcade. It was obvious for a completed victory and a total World Cup victory. Then Fourcade missed two shots - but despite that he had a lead with 14.7 seconds as Jacquelin missed three.

Fourcade held the lead all the way to the finish and thus won the last race of the career. It is also ten years since he won his first World Cup victory in Kontiolahti.
