Earlier this week, SHL announced its intention to postpone the SM playoffs until March 24 to be able to play in front of the public. But it will not. Instead, the league came tonight with a new message to set the season.

Formally, the Swedish Ice Hockey Association is making a decision and tomorrow their board will meet in an extra session.

- Spontaneously it is very boring especially for the fans and the playoffs are always a public party when it is to be decided and then you always want to be there. But it is in the small perspective and in the large they set because of an infectious risk. That's probably the only right thing, says Luleå Hockey goalkeeper Joel Lassinantti to SVT Sport.

Convincing series victory

Luleå Hockey won the basic series with 14 points ahead of Färjestad. Before the playoffs, the team was seen as the favorite to win the playoffs.

- I have been really charged in the last few days for the play to start. It becomes a real anti-climax when it ends like this. I no longer know what to say, but it feels terribly empty. At the same time it is a tough decision that SHL has made and I suffer with them that such a decision should be made.

How did you respond to the message?

- It's just empty ... You have no idea what's going on now. The decision is made for a reason and we simply have to respect it.

SHL has not announced whether they will be awarded any SM gold this season.
