The Swedish Ice Hockey Association has paused the highest leagues due to the corona virus and it is currently unclear how it will be with up and down moves between the different series.

Björklöven broke a new point record (121) during the basic series and is currently 1-1 in matches in the hockeyall Swedish final against Modo. The club's CEO Anders Blomgren is now following developments closely.

- We would prefer that it be decided on sporting grounds, even if it is without audience or if it is pushed forward in time. It should be played about it, he tells SVT Sport.

- If there is no game, I think you have to value the performance that has been made. There have nevertheless been 52 basic series rounds in both Swedish and SHL. For us it would be devastating if this whole season is in vain.

"Reasonable proposal to increase SHL"

The debate about what will happen now is hot in Hockey Sweden. Blomgren says Björklöven is prepared to wait "for as long as possible" to get the chance to play, but he also thinks the proposal to increase SHL from 14 to 16 teams is reasonable.

- Both we and Modo have made good achievements and such a solution would give some kind of justice to this situation. I think we have shown on sporting grounds that we have been the best in allsvenskan this year and we think we should be valued in this.

Timrå's sports manager Kent Norberg told Hockey Pulse yesterday that it is "absolutely damn obvious that more teams than the two should have the chance to step up".

- I can understand Kent's reaction because the playoff series is also ongoing. The best thing would be if we could find a worthy way for all this to be decided on the ice, but if it does not I have to go back to the basic series results again, says Blomgren.

No cases of illness in Björklöven

According to Anders Blomgren, Björklöven has not been affected by any illness due to corona.

What does everyday life look like to you now with all this uncertainty?

- In terms of training it is "business as usual", but we have taken extra precautions to counteract the spread of infection. For example, we have not let any outside persons in our dressing room, we have limited the number of visits to the office and done other things to minimize contact.

A new message from the Swedish Ice Hockey Association about the situation is expected in the middle of next week.
