It was becoming untenable. The UEFA executive committee, which initially wanted to wait until Tuesday and a large meeting with all stakeholders before deciding on a suspension of its competitions, finally announced on Friday that the matches of the Champions League and League Europa scheduled next week will not take place due to the coronavirus epidemic.

"In light of the latest information on the spread of the Covid-19 and government decisions, next week's UEFA matches have been postponed, the European body said on Twitter. The draws for the 1/4 final of the Champions League and Europa League, scheduled for March 20, are postponed. New dates will be announced in due course. "

The C1 quarter-finals were to be played on April 7 and 8, the return matches on April 14 and 15. It remains to be seen what will decide UEFA for the rest of the events. Will it "sacrifice" Euro 2020 by postponing it to next summer to identify dates to finish competitions later in the season?

This seems to be the trend, but nothing has yet been recorded. It should be, precisely, at the end of Tuesday's videoconference meeting. UEFA has invited representatives from its 55 members, the European Club Association, National Leagues and Fifpro to discuss the immediate future of domestic and European competitions, including the Euro.
