Waldemar Kita fears for the health of the players and wants the temporary cessation of the championship - L. Venance / AFP

In an interview with RMC Sport, Waldemar Kita asked for the Ligue 1 championship to be stopped. For the president of FC Nantes, playing matches behind closed doors is not the right solution.

“We reduce the risks by going in camera, but we must also think about the players. It is not because there are no spectators that they do not risk bringing the virus with them and giving it back to their teammates, members of staff or club staff. We don't care about their health at all. "

The Swiss championship stopped

For Waldemar Kita, the Professional Football League should be inspired by the Swiss football league which decided to suspend the championships of first and second divisions until March 23 because of the epidemic of coronavirus.

"The solution would be to stop the activity for 15 days or 3 weeks" recommended the president of FC Nantes.

As a reminder, the LFP decided on Tuesday March 10 that all matches in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 would be played behind closed doors until April 15. Nantes will therefore receive Nîmes, this Saturday March 14 and especially Lyon, the weekend of April 11 and 12 in an empty stadium.
