- Of course, it feels incredibly sad that we will not be able to invite our audience to a large sports party with broadcasts from 20 different sports over seven days, but as the situation is now in Sweden, this was a natural decision to make together with the National Sports Federation and the host cities, says SVT Sports Manager Åsa Edlund Jönsson.

Tonight, the government decided to stop all public gatherings and events with more than 500 participants. This applies to, for example, major sporting events such as the Swedish Week. The decision is based on the proposal of the Public Health Authority and is a contagious measure aimed at preventing occasions when a large number of people gather in one place.

The National Sports Federation takes a serious look at the situation linked to the spread of infection and closely follows developments both in Sweden and the outside world.

- Setting up such a big and popular event as the SM Week is a very difficult decision, but we are facing a serious situation where the Swedish Sports Federation obviously takes the responsibility we can to help keep the spread of infection down, says Björn Eriksson, Chairman of the Swedish Sports Federation .

The broadcasts from the SM Week in Luleå and Boden would have been the end of a long and successful season with the Winter Studio, but the TV program will now end the weekend March 21-22.

Summer's SM week will be decided in Halmstad between June 24-30.
