Today, the message came that the women's chieftaincy captain Ylva Martinsen may leave her assignment. She got two years in the post, something SVT's hockey expert Maria Rooth thinks is short-lived.

"I am surprised that they are making this decision now, I thought the union had a longer time perspective," she tells SVT Sport.

"Don't blame Ylva for that"

The Martins have had a tough time as the Confederate. The women's crowns departed from the A-VM in 2019 and would have played the B-VM now in the spring, which however was canceled due to the corona virus.

- It was as it was, but in my world I don't blame Ylva for it. It feels like the entire organization and team have been so neglected in treatment that it's hard in a short time to do wonders.

Poor results may have played a role

Precisely the poor result in the championships means Rooth may have played a role when the union made the decision.

- Is it a better decision they want and they have set an agenda they want to reach, and do not feel that Ylva is right in different ways, then they have based on it. So the result certainly plays a role in that, she says.

Martinsen has reportedly expressed that she is disappointed to be leaving and that she wanted to continue - something Rooth understands.

- I understand that she is disappointed, she has not been able to test what she has wanted all the time. It is too short a time to make a mark on this team, she says.
