Italian Prime Minister Guiseppe Conte announced yesterday that all sporting events in the country will be canceled until April 3. It has placed Serie A football in limbo. Will the season be played clearly?

Today, the Italian Football Association, FIGC, and the Italian Olympic Committee and the government met to discuss the issue.

There will be no way to be able to play clearly all matches that remain until May 24, which is currently the last day the league is allowed to run. In a statement from FIGC chairman Gabriele Gravina, the union confirms that they will try to postpone the league term one week to May 31 and push in as many matches as possible.

Three suggestions

If the situation would not allow the league to be played clearly, there are a few more suggestions.

One suggestion is that Series A ends as the table is at the moment and hands Scudetton to the series manager. After 26 laps, Juventus leads by 63 points, with Lazio a stick behind. Another way out would be to not hand out the league title this season.

A third and final thought is to organize an end game to appoint league champions and another to single out three teams that leave.

Playoffs for series winners and relegation were two other proposals that came up on the table Tuesday.
