The players of the Pescara team, in Italian Serie B, presented themselves on the field Sunday equipped with surgical masks before their match - disputed behind closed doors - in Benevento, while the Peninsula is in full epidemic of coronavirus.

"Concerned about the health of our players and that of our opponents, we entered the field with protective masks," writes the Abruzzo club (center-east) on its Twitter account.

The former club of Marco Verratti also published photos of the warm-up and the immediate pre-match, on which we see all the players wearing masks. "They were only removed at the invitation of the referee because they were not provided for in the regulations," said the Pescara club.

Neither Pescara nor Benevento, which is currently the leader of Serie B, are located in the regions most affected by the epidemic of new coronavirus. It has now killed 366 people for more than 7,300 cases.
