Johannes Kläbo told us last week that he lost the joy of skiing this season.

- I miss the game, to use such a word, he told NRK then.

Now the 23-year-old has decided to change his training schedule drastically this summer. The reason is that Kläbo is already aiming for the Beijing 2022 Olympics.

The championship in China will be decided at high altitude, 1650-1700 meters. This means that the world's best sprinter, who has won all eight sprint races he has set up this season, will spend close to a hundred days at high altitude next year.

- I have to do it for real. Otherwise, it's no idea. The plan is that we will spend more time on the altitude now and go back to the good, old altitude model from earlier times. This means that we probably run at full altitude, he tells NRK.

Do as Johaug and Östberg

This summer, Kläbo goes on his own, together with his grandfather Kåre Hösflot, away at high altitude for three weeks. Therese Johaug and Ingvild Flugstad Östberg have had a similar arrangement in the past.

- It's a big decision to make. But this is probably the year when you can try. We know what to expect during the Olympics. It's loud and then you have to spend a few days there and aim for it to work.

The Norwegian has so far only been at a single high altitude camp in his career. It was in Font-Romeu last summer.
