The technical supervisor of the Bani Yas Club Goalkeeper Academy, Asian lecturer Zakaria Ahmed, revealed the role played by the academy, which was established during the 2017-2018 season under the direction of the team His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and President of Bani Yas Club, in Goalkeepers industry and their support for the national teams, indicating that the academy is the first of its kind among the country's clubs.

Zakaria Ahmed told Emirates Today: “We started work at the academy with a comprehensive evaluation of all the guards present in the club for two months. After that, two goalkeeper festivals were organized and we invited all those wishing to join Baniyas Club. The first festival witnessed 23 guards, three of whom were chosen As for the second, it included 14 guards, and one guard was included for the club.

He added: “The guards who joined the festivals of the club are: Rashid Al Hosani, who was summoned to the junior team, and he is now the main guard for the 16-year-old team, in addition to Saif Al-Darmaki, the main guard of the 17-year-old team. He was part of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council team who went to the Japanese League to experience homeliness".

He continued: «The festival also witnessed a strong presence of goalkeeper Sultan Al-Awadi, who is the main guard of the 14-year-old team, as he was called up to the Cubs team, and the goalkeeper Karim (French nationality) joined, through these two festivals, to be the second guard for the 17-year-old team.

The technical supervisor stressed that «the academy since its inception has set a clear plan and goal, and it is providing two goalkeepers to the teams of the Sunni groups, and a guard for the first team».

And on the mechanism of the academy’s work, Zakaria Ahmed said: “We are working to unify the technical programs and their sequence in a way that serves the achievement of goals, and to conduct periodic technical workshops to develop trainers, go to the guards and trainers for coexistence in Europe to refine their training skills, and the result came distinguished after three years, and we recorded wonderful numbers ».

Regarding the investment thought of the academy, the technical supervisor stressed that "until now there is no income or investment thinking, but certainly that will be in the future with the proper establishment of the guards, and the sale of distinguished people or secondment, because it will definitely bring investment income to the academy."

Baniyas work results

Technical supervisor Zakaria Ahmed confirmed that the results of the academy were impressive, and he said: “We recorded many positive results. Among the most prominent outcome is the presence of goalkeeper Fahd Al-Dhanhani in the first team, goalkeeper Khaled Al-Balushi in the Olympic team and goalkeeper Sultan Al-Zaabi, born in 2002 in the ranks of the youth team. A goalkeeper was also discovered. Distinguished and his name is Moamen (Egyptian nationality), through the guard festivals, and he is considered one of the best guards in the 13-year competition.
