The Premier League announced that it cancels the handshake between teams and referees before the matches, from this weekend and onwards until further notice, to avoid ways of contagion of the coronavirus outbreak.
"For health reasons, there will be no handshake between the teams and the referees before the Premier matches from this weekend and until further notice based on medical recommendation," says the English league, in a statement.
The Premier justifies its decision to ban the traditional greeting between teams because "the coronavirus is transmitted from the drops of the nose and mouth to the hands and from there it can pass to other hands in the greeting." "Clubs and referees will follow the rest of the traditional protocol before each game."
In fact, the Premier maintains that, after the training in the center of the field, the visiting team "passes in line ahead of its rival" but without "shaking hands in greeting."
