The five-mile and three-mile in Holmenkollen are given elements of the World Cup season in cross-country skiing. But now the municipality of Oslo chooses to close the ski area for the public because of the corona virus.

Norway's Martin Johnsrud Sundby is no longer counted as the top of the world elite, but won the five-mile in Holmenkollen both 2016 and 2017. Then: cheers and applause. Now: a competition that will echo even in the crowd.

- From a purely subjective point of view, of course, it is very boring and a little exaggerated. There are so far relatively few cases in Norway, it would have gone (to have crowds) without problems.

At the same time, the former star has an understanding of the decision.

- I agree that it would be quite strange if you put in 20,000 people on the subway to Holmenkollen. In this way, I understand the assessment. I am not a doctor and cannot judge how great the risk is of gathering so many people.

Even for Norwegian rider Emil Iversen, the public ban raises certain concerns.

- It might be completely silent. I don't really know how to motivate myself all the way if I start running out.
