The coronavirus is spreading throughout the world and affects human health as well as the economy and sporting events. Yesterday it was clear that the Swedish national team in football is also affected - Linda Sembrant, who plays in Juventus, was stopped on the way to Portugal.

- Incredibly sad for the team and Linda of course, it's a player that is very important to us and someone who adds a lot to both on and off the pitch, says team captain Caroline Seger to SVT Sport and continues:

- But in terms of the medical, you are very confident that they will make the right decision.

Forward Sofia Jakobsson is on the same track.

- Of course it is incredibly sad that we are not allowed to have Sembrant here. But the doctor has made a decision and of course there is a risk.

Italy with ten Juventus players in place

Federal Captain Peter Gerhardsson believes that it was not an easy decision.

- Decisions are difficult to make sometimes and when the medical decision came I supported it. Just like they have to support my decision if I make a change in the 88th minute.

At the same time, Italy, also in place in the Algarve, has ten players in the squad that all play in Sembrant's Juventus.

"We can only do what is right for us and then we hope that Italy does what is best for everyone else," says Caroline Seger.

- It is important to focus on the right things. Now it is Germany that applies and should we end up with Italy later we can discuss it, says Gerhardsson.
