Earlier it was decided that the tournament in Xi'an, April 13-19, would not be played.

“The decision is made to make it as good as possible for our players, the tournament, the WTA staff and the supporters,” the tour manager said in a statement.

"We look forward to the competition in Anning 2021 together with this autumn's planned WTA tournaments in China."

It is hoped that seven WTA tournaments will be held in China this autumn, as well as the final game in Shenzhen on November 1-8.

"We continue to be in touch with medical experts to get information related to this virus and continue to be vigilant in dealing with this challenging situation," says WTA.

To date, more than 89,000 people have been infected by the new corona virus and more than 3,000 have died.
