More than a victory, it is a feeling of "relief" that accompanies Josepha Giudicelli Thursday morning, after the vote of the National Assembly ending professional football matches on May 5 in tribute to the victims of the stadium disaster. Furiani, who had killed 18 people on May 5, 1992. The bill brought by the Corsican deputy Michel Castellani.

"It is really a relief after so many years to see an end of non-return on the part of the authorities, rejoices the president of the collective of victims of May 5, 1992. Especially since the vote was almost unanimously [one abstention and one vote against, 85 votes in favor]. It shows that the political camp does not matter in this kind of case. This duty of memory, too long ignored, is finally etched in stone. "

It now remains for the Senate to examine and validate or not this bill. On this point, Josepha Giudicelli is optimistic: “We hope that the senators will follow, that there will be continuity between the National Assembly and the Senate. We are hopeful since the vote was almost unanimous ”.

This political decision contrasts with the attitude of the authorities of French football (LFP AND FFF) who have always braked four irons facing the demands of the collective led by Giudicelli, arguing that this would cause too much difficulty in organizing the calendar. "It is unfortunate to have to go through politics to resolve this issue," she laments. Why have the authorities never wanted to go our way? Probably too many financial issues. But today we are happy that the politicians have taken their responsibility ”.
