One of the referees of the Italian Amateur League received a penalty, the first of its kind, for depriving him from participating in football activities for a year, after he bounced a player after being sent off during a match, according to a police statement in Macerata today, Tuesday.

The police did not reveal the name of the 31-year-old referee, who is from Naples.

During the match between Borgo Mugliano and Montotone, on February 1, the referee assaulted one of the players on the land side, outside the dressing room, for the player to be taken to hospital for treatment.

The match took place in Mogeliano in the Italian amateur league and ended with Borgo Mugliano winning three goals to one.

The referee was forbidden to attend any match for a year, whether at the level of professionals or amateurs in Italy and abroad.
