- It was fantastic and I wanted to win today. Before the start, I saw Maiken behind me and wondered what was happening. So fun to win in my hometown and to also get Jonna on the podium, says Svahn.

It was a great day for Svahn who went tactically all the way to the finals where she also played the cards correctly and took her third individual sprint victory in the World Cup this season (also two in relay). She turned 20 two months ago and the breakthrough has been massive for the new sprint star.

Svahn went as controlled in the semin as in the quarter and won it. It went slow and the riders hacked several times, which also led Jonna Sundling to the final as lucky loser from the first seminar where she was third.

Seven riders in the final

It was something as unique as seven riders in the finals, after Sophie Caldwell and Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen failed to separate in the second seminar. They had exactly the same hundredths. This allowed Maiken Caspersen Falla to stand behind Svahn at the start.

The qualifier Johanna Hagström went tough in the second quarter finals and won it before sprint cup leader Anamarija Lampic. Therese Johaug showed remarkably good sprinting ability on the tough and long track (around 3.20 in driving time) and took Jessica Diggins on the run and finished third. After a long wait, Johaug went on to semi on time.

Svahn dominated the fifth quarterfinals she won before Heidi Weng.

In the semi-finals, it stopped Hagström, who finished fifth after not being able to go all the way in.

There were Swedish riders in all the quarterfinals, both on the women's and men's side.
